PET Templates

We have also generated template images for some of the radioligands included in the project. These template images are computed from quality-checked individual brain scans as follows:

  1. Summing individual frames for the individual images
  2. Normalizing the resulting sum images into MNI space with SMP
  3. Averaging the normalized subject-wise images and finally
  4. Mirror-averaging the meaan normalized images.

The templates are unsmoothed, thus this can be done afterwards depending on your own scanner settings. Note that these are raw radioactivity images and are thus not represntative of any biologically meaninful outcome measure. Instead, these templates can be used for spatial normalization of PET images when the individual MR images are not available.

[18F]-FDG (fluoro-de-oxy-glucose), a glucose analogue tracer that can be used for measuring regional glucose uptake and metabolism. Download template.

[11C]-PIB (Pittsburgh compound B), a Thioflavin T analogue tracer that can be used for quantifying beta-amylyoid plaques in the tissue. Download template.

[11C]-raclopride, a synthetic compound tracer and a selective antagonist for type 2 dopamine receptors. The tracer has high selective binding in the striatum and unspecific profile elsewhere.  Download template.

[11C]-carfentanil, a radioligand based on synthetic opioid analgesic fentanyl and a selective agonist for mu-opioid receptors, with only very limited affinity for delta and kappa receptors. Download template.

[11C] -MADAM, a 5-HTT serotonin transporter radioligand based on N,N-dimethyl-2-(2-amino-4 methylphenylthio)benzylamine, with high binding throughout the serotonergic system. Download template.

We are currently working on probabilistic maps for these tracers, as well as on templates for numerous other tracers.
